Key features

What the holder is designed to do

Five things it does on every film, in every operatory.

Compatibility

Conventional & self-developing films.

Low cross infection

Cost-effective & disposable — a fresh holder for every patient.

Ergonomic design

Shaped to the arch form, for patient comfort.

Minimizes retakes

From improper positioning — the holder sets the film, not the fingers.

Wide compatibility

Adult & child dental X-ray films.

Precision positioning

Better imaging, better outcomes — comfort meets confidence, for you and your patients.

Colour coding

Three colours. No guesswork.

Each holder is moulded in the colour of the job it does, so the right one is identified by sight before it ever reaches the patient.

Yellow and red divide the mouth. Blue divides the workflow — it is the holder to reach for when the image is captured on a digital sensor or a PSP plate rather than on film.

Yellow

Anterior · Trismus · Endodontic

For anterior teeth, and for the awkward cases — restricted opening, and films taken during endodontic procedures.

Red

Posterior

For posterior teeth, where positioning is hardest to hold and a steady bite matters most.

Blue

Digital

For digital intraoral sensors and PSP plates, where the receptor is rigid, reusable and cabled rather than a disposable film packet.

Blue · digital

The same geometry, opened out to take a sensor instead of a film packet.

A digital sensor is thicker than film and it trails a cable, so the slot and the bite block were reworked around it. Moulding it blue means the difference is settled at a glance, before the holder is out of the packet.

Development

Stage by stage, the holder was reshaped around the arch until the geometry stopped fighting the anatomy.

Every iteration was printed, placed and reviewed by clinicians before the next one was cut. The colour coding survived that process because it was the part that saved time in the operatory.

How to use

Three steps, any holder

Anterior / Trismus / Endodontic Holder (Yellow)

  1. 1 Place the film inside the holder.
  2. 2 Position the yellow holder in the mouth for anterior teeth, or in cases of trismus and during endodontic procedures.
  3. 3 Ask the patient to bite gently to hold the film in place.

Posterior Holder (Red)

  1. 1 Place the film inside the holder.
  2. 2 Position the red holder in the mouth for posterior teeth.
  3. 3 Ask the patient to bite gently to hold the film in place.

Digital Holder (Blue)

  1. 1 Seat the digital sensor or PSP plate in the holder, leaving the cable clear of the slot.
  2. 2 Position the blue holder in the mouth for the tooth being imaged.
  3. 3 Ask the patient to bite gently to hold the sensor in place.

Why choose our film holder?

Our dental X-ray film holder is engineered for easy positioning as per arch form, comfort, and durability. Whether for regular dental procedures or complex cases such as trismus, endodontic procedures, our holder promises greater positioning comfort.

Regulatory

Registration and intellectual property

KARVI is intended for use by qualified dental professionals. Image quality depends on technique, equipment and patient anatomy.

Two designs are registered with the Indian Patent Office. A separate patent application is pending — both are set out below, and the registration certificates are published in full.
